The Teens are busy creating a garden in the church grounds that will grow vegetables for the needy. The garden will be totally environment friendly and organically done, using only organic waste (provided by the teens)as compost. The objective of the garden is to learn how to grow vegetables successfully in a natural environment, so that we can be equipped to teach others to become self sufficient. The vegetables that we grow will be given to a charity in need. Although the garden is only 2m x 1m, we intend to enlarge it as we go along. The project is headed up by Michela De Dominicis and we are presently asking for seeds so that we can start the planting process. |

Shrove Tuesday - 24 February 2009. Once again, the Confirmation candidates cooked a huge amount of pancakes, that were consumed with gusto by the ample crowd of parishioners and friends. There was a good deal of sharing as we all brought our own different fillings. A big thank-you to Chris Archary who organised the evening. Despite the huge appetites, (fasting began the next day), there is always pancake mixture left at the end of the evening. This year I remembered to bring an empty plastic container, so our family were first in the queue for the leftover mixture. However, what I didn't know was that it needs to be used fairly quickly - as our bottle exploded in the kitchen a few days later, leaving dripping pancake mixture dripping from the ceiling. A good lesson was learned. The Confirmation Team at work in the kitchen |
